The River & Rail - Roanoke, VA - I was blown away with how much I enjoyed my meal at The River & Rail. This restaurant is creating quite the buzz around Roanoke and it’s understandable when you consider the quality of the food. The shrimp & grits I had was one of my food highlights of 2012. Find out more about it by reading my review: The River City.
Pomodoro Restaurant & Pizzeria - New York, NY - I had so much amazing food during our trip to New York City a few months ago, but the pizza really stuck out. We searched all over the place to find a local pizza shop that wasn’t touristy or expensive and hit the jackpot at Pomodoro. The vodka pizza was incredible and I wish there was a place in Roanoke that served something like it. Read more about my love of New York Pizza.
Aquarius Restaurant - Aruba - When you eat a restaurant that features a seafood buffet that includes grilled lobster, crab legs, shrimp, scallops, mahi, grouper, and wahoo, it’s bound to be one of the more memorable meals of the year. Having dinner at Aquarius was one of the highlights of our trip to Aruba and one of the best seafood experiences I’ve ever had. Learn more about one of the best meals in the Caribbean.
Michael Phelps: London Summer Olympics - I think it will be a long time before we can really understand the accomplishments of Michael Phelps. After a terrible opening race in the Summer Olympics in London, Phelps rebounded to capture 6 medals - 4 gold and 2 silver. He finished as the most decorated Olympian of all time and delivered on the incredible expectations that he’s faced over the past 12 years. Incredible.
Alabama vs. UGA: SEC Championship - It still bothers me to think about this game because it feels like Georgia lost the National Championship. That being said - it was one of the best college football games I’ve seen in a long time and clearly the best game of 2012. I wish it would have ended differently, but it doesn’t take anything away from the incredible excitement and intensity of the game.
LeBron James: NBA Finals - LeBron James finally silenced his critics and doubters by leading the Heat to an NBA Championship in 2012. James capped off one of the most dominant seasons in NBA history with an incredible series against the Oklahoma City Thunder and left little doubt about who the best player in the world is. And to make his year even more impressive, James spent the summer leading Team USA to another gold medal at the Olympics.
