2. The Santa Clause – As a child of the 1990’s, this is one of the Christmas movies I grew up with. Scott Calvin and his son spending the night at the North Pole made me hope I could visit. Charlie riding around in the sleigh with his dad made me think that was the coolest way to travel ever. Or, as a fat kid, seeing all the milk and cookies he got to eat made me extremely hungry and jealous. I’m not really a fan of Santa Clause 2, or 3, or Santa Reloaded, or whatever became of this ridiculous series – but the original was a real winner.
3. Christmas Vacation – I don’t think I saw this movie for the first time until I was in high school, but it didn’t make it any less funny. There are so many scenes that make me laugh just trying to type them out: Clark going sledding, Aunt Bethany giving the blessing, any scene with Cousin Eddie. There are so many clichés that make this movie perfect for the holidays, and so many ways we can all relate to the situations the Griswalds are in. So for that, I say we all stand and pray together with Aunt Bethany.
