If McDonald's serves the filet-o-fish, The Fresh Market serves the porterhouse of fish. As part of the Rotisserie Sandwiches in the prepared foods section of the store, the Salmon Burger with Feta Aioli is quite a seafood catch.
This "burger" features two massive pieces of rotisserie-cooked bourbon salmon on a Kaiser roll. The salmon is tender and flaky and has a sweet taste from the bourbon glaze. You could probably take one piece of salmon off the sandwich to save for another meal and still have plenty of meat.
It's also topped with red onion, tomatoes, spring mix, and a feta aioli. I was a little skeptical of the aioli because I didn't want it to taste like mayo but the feta gives it a nice sharpness. The flavors of the spring mix and tomato with the feta made me feel like I was eating a salmon salad between two slices of bread.
Because of the dressing and greens, this sandwich can get pretty messy. With its size, it should also come with a sticker that says "two hands required." I'd also recommend eating it soon after purchasing because it would definitely make the bread soggy with time.
Leave it to The Fresh Market to prove to me that a burger can taste good even if it doesn't have a 1/2 pound of beef that's topped with bacon and cheddar cheese.
