Donut Do It
I considered Doughnut Plant to be a bit of a disappointment and, unfortunately, The Donut Pub was more of the same.
This small, quaint doughnut shop is located near Greenwich Village near 7th avenue. I had read good things about it on Foursquare and we were already headed in that direction so I decided to give it a try.
The layout of the shop reminded me of a traditional Dunkin Donuts. The doughnuts were on the wall, people were seated at a bar, and there wasn’t anything fancy about it.
Hmmm...well when you put it like that!
I ordered two different flavors - the Honey Dipped and the Chocolate Glazed. The honey dipped was The Donut Pub’s take on an original glazed doughnut and the Chocolate Glazed was a plain doughnut covered in chocolate. I didn’t think the Honey Dipped tasted any different than a glazed doughnut you get from Dunkin Donuts and I thought the Chocolate Glazed was gross. It reminded me of the chocolate doughnuts you get in the bag at the grocery store. I actually threw it in the trash after two bites.
Safe to say I wasn’t particularly impressed with The Donut Pub. At $3, it was a cheap snack, but not one I’d recommend.
Maybe people in New York just don’t know what it takes to make a good doughnut.
