Asian Buffet in Roanoke
I tend to avoid reviewing any major chains I eat at on a regular basis - like when having lunch at Chick-fil-A or grabbing a sandwich from Subway. I could write a review about a 6-inch ham and turkey on wheat but there’s really only so far you can go with that.
I wondered if it was even worth reviewing Hibachi Grill & Supreme Buffet and decided I would give it a shot. We tried it for dinner last Friday night and it was about what I expected.
For $9.00 a person, you can experience a massive, all-you-can-eat Asian buffet. There is a salad bar, hot food (American & Asian), sushi, hibachi grill, and desserts. I feel like there are a couple of these restaurants in any big city.
Fortunately, it wasn’t all bad at the Hibachi Grill & Supreme Buffet. The miso soup was good and the hibachi grill offers the opportunity to have things cooked to order. I put together a plate of rice, egg, peppers, onions, snow peas, and shrimp that were then cooked in soy sauce. The chef didn’t quite cook my food all the way through but we won’t fret about the details.
The highlight of the meal was the Chinese doughnut that we tried for dessert. I happened to be standing at the bar when the lady brought out a fresh batch of doughnuts and I grabbed the first one out of the pan. It was like a fresh, hot funnel cake and tasted delicious. In a shocking display of self-control, I managed to resist going back for another one.
For an Asian buffet, I’d say Hibachi Grill and Supreme Buffet is pretty standard. A few things that are pretty good and a few things that are pretty awful. Roanoke is full of other good restaurants that I would suggest before going here, but it’s one of the better buffets in town.
