The 2013-14 season certainly didn’t end the way Duke basketball fans were hoping or expecting. An opening round loss in the NCAA Tournament is always disappointing for any team, but it’s especially painful and frustrating for a program with expectations like Duke.
I’ve waited a few days to post my thoughts on Friday’s game and the season because I wanted to give myself time to think about the season and distance myself from the emotion of the loss to Mercer.
Now that I’ve given myself some time, I still don’t have many positive things to say about the season or this year’s team, but I do feel like I can write this from a level-headed perspective.
