The Blue Devils led 43-27 at the halftime break, and then relied on stifling defense in the second half to maintain a comfortable margin over the Yellow Jackets.
Though it probably doesn’t seem like it, this was a great win for Duke. With the team coming off an emotional win against Maryland this past Saturday and two huge games coming up later this week against UNC and Syracuse, a road trip to Atlanta had the potential to be a trap game for Duke, especially with the Yellow Jackets playing in front of the first sell-out crowd of the year at McCamish Pavilion.
Duke erased any possibility of an upset early in the game behind some terrific perimeter shooting from Rodney Hood, which essentially took the crowd out of the game before the fans even had a chance to get settled.
