Much has been made about Jabari Parker declaring for the NBA Draft and the recent impact of one-and-done players on the Duke basketball program.
While there’s no doubt these freshmen who leave school after one year certainly have an effect on the program and how the coaching staff can develop a team, they aren’t the only ones who can cause a shift in approach by moving to the next level.
Along with the freshmen who declare, the Blue Devils have also had to deal with their share of other players who leave school early to pursue a professional career.
What role has this played on the Duke basketball program over the past decade? Besides the freshmen who’ve left, which I looked at in my last story, let’s look at the other players who’ve moved on to the NBA and see how the Blue Devils responded in the following season. For a decent sample size, I’ll account for the past 10 years.
