I reached a point where I was sick of posting and writing had become exhausting. Between writing for my job, writing for various college basketball websites, and writing for From Ballparks to BBQ, all of this had gone from feeling like a hobby and passion to a part-time job and responsibility.
I needed a break. I wanted to be able to feel like I didn't NEED to write something new every day.
I wanted to not feel guilty about spending the evening watching TV or having a weekend where I didn't pay attention to anything sports-related. Or, I wanted to be able to watch sports without having to write a recap or analysis story. I wanted to try a new restaurant without feeling like I'd need to take pictures and notes for a review I'd write about it a few days later.
I've also watched Netflix. LOTS. OF. NETFLIX.
I've been able to do all of those things over the past few weeks. It's been great. It was a much needed vacation and time to relax and re-charge in terms of my writing. It also gave me some perspective on where this site is right now and where I'd like to see it go in the future.
There are some design elements I'd really like to change over the next few weeks, which will be an experiment. Design and formatting aren't my strengths, so I usually have to compromise on things I want compared to what I'm actually able to do. We'll see how it goes.
Most importantly, I'm getting to a point where I'm excited to write again. Ideas are coming more naturally and I look forward to being able to share my thoughts and opinions on things.
I didn't feel that way a month ago. And it feels to good to feel that way once again.
