Top 3 Tuesdays - Best Ice Cream
The combination of chocolate, peanut butter, and pretzels in the food version of the holy trinity for me. I’ll eat anything that’s chocolate and peanut butter and the addition of crunchy pretzels just makes it that much better.
The Chocolate Peanut Butter Pretzel Sensation Ice Cream is one of the seasonal flavors that Publix sells during certain times of the year and we bought quite a few containers of it when living in Florida. I’d compare it to the Chubby Hubby flavor from Ben & Jerry’s, except it has more chocolate. Here’s the description on the box: “Milk chocolate ice cream with milk chocolate coated pretzel balls and peanut butter ripple.”
Just stop it. Call it “Heaven in your freezer.”
And screw you, Publix, for not being in Virginia.
This is my one “fancy” flavor on the list because it comes from a well-known ice cream shop in Atlanta that is highly regarded among foodies.
Morelli’s is located on the east side of Atlanta and has been named one of the best ice cream shops in America by Bon Appetit magazine. They feature some really unique homemade flavors that change throughout the day and I’d highly recommend stopping by if you’re ever in the ATL.
I’ve tried a couple different flavors when we’ve visited by my favorite is definitely the Salted Caramel. This flavor has won numerous awards and is one of the reasons Morelli’s is so popular.
They manage to create a sweet, smoky, salty caramel flavor that has an incredible consistency and texture that is perfect.
So I thought I just lived in an area where the grocery stores didn’t sell Edy’s Take the Cake ice cream. Yes, I live in a place that doesn’t have a Publix or Take the Cake.
We need to move. I know.
But a quick Google search has revealed that the Take the Cake flavor has been discontinued by Edy’s. What?!?!
Who knew Edy was such an idiot?
Fortunately, there is a Facebook group that has been created to help bring back this wonderful flavor. I am now a proud member of said group.
This amazing flavor featured yellow cake ice cream with frosting and sprinkles. It really doesn’t even sound very good to me when I describe it but it was awesome. Trust me.
AND...it was one of Edy’s Slow Churned flavors, which means it had ½ the fat. It was healthy!
Even if you don’t like ice cream, please join the Facebook group to help bring back this great flavor! Come on. Do it!
