Top 3 Tuesday - Best Christmas Songs
Christmas is the only time of year I look forward to hearing a Mariah Carey song come on the radio. This song is too good to even be considered a guilty pleasure. It's also excellent when performed by acapella groups. Nothing says "Happy Holidays" like Mariah belting out the word "You" with the sound of bells jingling in the background. There's even this fantastic music video with Mariah holding a bunny rabbit and frolicking through the snow. How perfect.
I could listen to Josh Groban sing all day. His voice is incredibly pure and he has amazing range, which is perfect for this Christmas classic. I also like this song much more than his version of "I'll Be Home For Christmas" because the end of that song makes me uneasy when the kids are telling their parents "Merry Christmas" and they hope they will see them soon - I swear that one girl has been telling her dad she hopes he'll be home soon for at least seven years!
It really is tough to pick my third song but this one beat out Sting's version of "I Saw Three Ships." More than either of the previous two, I think the lyrics of this song portray the celebratory spirit we should have at Christmas. This version by Chris Tomlin is much more contemporary and it also features some new lyrics many people probably haven't heard before.
