Best BBQ in Town - Oklahoma Joe's
From Guest Poster - Kevin Malphurs
I love the people, the Power & Light district, Kauffman Stadium and just generally the vibe of the city.
But really the main reason I love visiting Kansas City is the BBQ. Over these trips (4 out of the past 5 years), I have tried Arthur Bryant's, Jack Stack, Gates, LC's, Rosedale's, and Woodyard, but the best of the best is Oklahoma Joe's BBQ.
Writing about Oklahoma Joe's making good BBQ is like writing a magazine article about how guys find Kate Upton to be attractive.
My advice when going to Oklahoma Joe's is to try everything - get the burnt ends, the pulled pork, the brisket and certainly the ribs. Try it first without the sauce and if you want to add some later, go for it. The food is as good as they tell you it is and the ribs specifically are perfection. I could write more about how amazing the food is, but really it is something you just need to try for yourself.
That's the thing about great BBQ compared to good BBQ. Good BBQ is a nice meal that is ultimately forgotten. You enjoy your pulled pork sandwich and you move on with the comings and goings of your world.
Great BBQ sticks with you.
There are three great BBQ spots I've been to, and I know they are great because those are the only three places where I make a plan to visit anytime I am in that city. Oklahoma Joe's is great BBQ.
