For a variety of reasons, I’m obsessed with this place and its tea. Anytime I see an Argo Tea Café, it’s like driving by a Krispy Kreme when the hot sign is on. You don’t have any other choice but to stop and go inside. The same thing happens when I see an Argo Tea Café. I get this sudden urge to go inside and try something delicious.
That’s exactly what happened during our recent trip to Chicago.
I had no intention of getting tea. Ironically, we were actually on our way to a huge food market when we walked past the Argo Tea Café. Of course, we walked in to the shop and the servers were offering samples of the White Tea Mimosa, which was their featured signature seasonal drink. I was hooked.
I went from not wanting anything to being sucked in like a helpless grandmother sampling frozen pizzas at a Costco. Only this was much better than any frozen pizza.
The iced white tea mimosa was a light, refreshing, citrusy drink that’s perfect for summer. I can’t remember exactly was in it but I believe it included a white tea, simple syrup, orange juice, and ginger ale. I love ginger ale and orange juice together so this easily became one of my favorite drinks I’ve tried at Argo Tea Café. Who am I kidding? I’ve yet to have a drink from there that I didn’t really like.
The white tea mimosa was also offered as a hot version, but I’m much pickier when it comes to hot tea and prefer it to be iced. I’m not sure if it’s still on the menu as it appeared to be a featured drink that would only be offered for a limited time, but it also could be something that you can order that isn’t listed on the menu. I have no idea though if Argo Tea Café’s can do that type of thing.
Even if you can’t get the white tea mimosa, there are plenty of other great options that are always available. I’d also recommend the Carolina honey or the Iced Pom Tea.
Like I said, I’ve yet to try anything that wasn’t great.
