With the powers of Chick-fil-A and Waffle House combined, you get this beautiful, heavenly creation on one plate.
Yesterday was my birthday. Instead of going to some fancy restaurant or having a big party, I told my wife I wanted to have a birthday dinner at Waffle House, but it included a twist. We had to first go to Chick-fil-A to get two chicken sandwiches, one spicy and one regular, and then take said chicken sandwiches to Waffle House so I could create the ultimate dish of chicken & waffles.
We were a little nervous about bringing outside food into WaHo, but we charmed the Waffle House waitresses with Chick-fil-A chicken nuggets and then I proceeded to create what should become the official state dish of Georgia. I take that back - it should be the official dish of mankind.
I ordered a double waffle and topped each one with the chicken from my two sandwiches. One with the original chicken and the other with the spicy chicken. Both waffles were buttered and the entire thing covered in syrup.
I chanted “S-E-C! S-E-C! S-E-C!” as the waffles were delivered to my table.
I could hear Larry Munson shouting, “TOUCHDOWN! TOUCHDOWN! MY GOD, A TOUCHDOWN!” as the syrup drizzled down over the fried chicken.
The crispy, spicy fried chicken with the light, buttery waffle was perfection.
I made this sacrifice for the greater good. None of my clothes fit when I woke up this morning and I dreamed that I was diagnosed with Type I, II and III Diabetes, but I did this for you. I did this for the entire world to know that Waffle House and Chick-fil-A are soulmates who are meant to be together.
I have been to the Promised Land, friends. It is more beautiful and delicious than anything you could ever imagine.
