It's a special day for him and I'm excited about what the future has for him.
He spent the past 36 years working hard and helping establish a standard of excellence at a Fortune 500 company and I'm extremely proud of his commitment and dedication. My dad's commitment to his job has provided for me and my family and allowed my brother and I to have a childhood where we were able to do what we wanted and never had to worry about whether or not our family could afford it.
My dad has also been one of my biggest supporters and is a person I regularly turn to for advice. Whether its taking a trip to other side of the world, interviewing for a job, making financial investments, or even writing a blog, my dad is always interested in what's going on in my life. He offers encouragement in many situations but there are also numerous times when he provides wisdom and discernment that helps keep me from making stupid mistakes.
I have a tremendous amount of respect for him and appreciate everything he has done to help me grow as a man. I think the people he's worked with over the years would have similar things to say about him.
When many people retire, they wonder how they are going to spend all their time. My Dad isn't worried about this at all - and he shouldn't be. He has a wide variety of interests and has taken up the hobby of building airplanes. Not model planes. Like real ones. That he can get in and fly across the country. I know. Ridiculous.
I don't think he'll have any trouble keeping himself occupied.
So today's post is in honor of my dad. A man who worked incredibly hard and was extremely successful. This one's for you, Pops. You earned it.
Congratulations and well done.
