Top 3 Tuesday - ACC Football Stadium Wishlist
Florida State was THE college football program of the 1990s. What Bobby Bowden built in Tallahassee was unbelievable and the Seminoles were in the running for a national championship every year. I hated them. I hated how good they were and how they could intimidate teams just by walking on the field. Winning on the road at Florida State was almost impossible. The program isn't nearly what it used to be but I'd love to visit to take in some of the rich history at Doak Campbell Stadium.
Similar to my Ole Miss pick from last week, my desire to go to a game at Virginia is more about the gameday culture of Charlottesville more than watching Virginia play in Scott Stadium. Charlottesville is an incredible college town. It has history, beauty, culture, and a fantastic dining scene. Add in some college football and you have a perfect way to spend a Saturday.
Remember when Syracuse was good? It was long ago. Many people don't realize it but this is a program with some serious football tradition. Syracuse produced All-Americans like Dwight Freeney, Marvin Harrison, Art Monk, & Ernie Davis. I remember many games in the 1990's when Donovan McNabb was leading the Orange to great seasons in the Big East and the Carrier Dome was one of the loudest stadiums in the country. Much of that excitement has dissipated but the potential is there for Syracuse to again become one of the best atmospheres in college football.
