The Feast Begins!
In Charlottesville, Feast! is that place.
Feast! is in Downtown Charlottesville, only a short walk away from the Omni Hotel and the pedestrian mall. If you’re hanging out at the mall, Feast! is easily within walking distance, or you can hop in your car and drive over to it and take advantage of their parking lot. Side note – parking can be a bit tricky in Charlottesville.
Feast! is part of a small complex that includes a number of different gourmet food shops, including a wine bar, spice shop, butcher, and bakery. Typical Charlottesville. Gourmet on every corner.
Feast! reminds me of a small-scale Dean & Deluca. They sell wine, cheese, meat, dips, antipasto, and other specialty items. You can even get different kinds of ice cream sandwiches! If you’re looking to create a fancy picnic, this is the place to get everything for your basket.
During our two visits to Feast!, there have been an abundance of items available for sampling. I can’t remember it all, but I know I’ve tried multiple types of cheese, duck pate, smoked meat, chocolate toffee pistachios, and pesto. All of it has been delicious.
The provolone, salami, and baguette are enough ingredients to make your own tasty sandwich, which I’ve done, but there is also a great selection of sandwiches and salads that are made to order. I’ve yet to try any of the sandwiches on the menu, but considering the taste of everything else, there’s little doubt in my mind that they would also be very good.
They offer a number of indoor and outdoor tables in front of the shop, helping create a fun atmosphere that invites people to share meals and conversations together.
Feast! is the type of place that’s a foodie’s dream. You can try many different artisanal, local products and you can tell the owners care about offering products of a high standard.
That seems to be a common theme in Charlottesville.
