Lunch at the Ted

Ted's Most Best
I spent last Saturday walking around campus at the University of Georgia and Downtown Athens and reminiscing about my time there when I was a student. Nicole and I were in town for a wedding and had a few hours to kill and enjoy the gorgeous weather.

It was fun to walk around and think about some of the memories I made while I was a student and it was funny to see how other people are now making their own college memories. For a town that is known for being different, it’s funny how much Athens remains the same.

I saw artists trying show off their craft to anyone that walked by. I saw sorority girls who were taking advantage of an opportunity for a shopping spree with their parents in town. And I saw guys stumbling around who probably couldn’t remember anything about the previous night. It’s the same scene that has been taking place in Athens for the past few decades.

Fortunately, the dining scene in Downtown Athens is not one of the things that stays the same. There are constantly new restaurants popping up and quite a few have opened since I graduated – one of those being Ted’s Most Best. In the mood to try something new, we went to Ted’s Most Best for lunch.

The layout at Ted’s is very unique. The restaurant took over an old auto repair garage and they managed to keep the garage feel while creating a very cool atmosphere. You order at a counter and then one side of the restaurant is an open kitchen with a brick oven. The wall at the entrance to the restaurant features glass garage doors that open up to a large patio with outdoor seating. Because the weather was AMAZING on Saturday afternoon, we sat at table outside on the patio. It was a great set up.

Ted's Most Best Pizza
The menu features a variety of pizzas, paninis, salads, and calzones and there is a good selection of vegetarian items. I decided to have the “special” pizza for the day, which came with sausage, green peppers, and red onion. It was a 10-inch pizza that was cut into four slices and was plenty big enough to serve as a meal and it cost about $8. Actually, for most people, it could probably serve as a meal for two.

The pizza had a thin crust and it was a good amount of toppings. I liked the flavor of the sauce and I also liked that there wasn’t too much sauce on it. There were also plenty of toppings that were evenly distributed to all four slices. Everything had good flavor, but I would have preferred it to cook in the oven for a couple more minutes. The cheese wasn’t quite as golden-brown as I normally cook it and I think a little more time in the oven would have made the crust and little more crispy, which I love in a pizza. In all though, they did a nice job.

We sat outside and enjoyed our food and the beautiful weather and remembered our great experiences in Athens. And it’s always fun to return and enjoy some new exciting experiences in Athens. Go Dawgs!

Thanks so much for coming in and giving us a try! We appreciate the comments (good and bad!). They always help us to know how we are doing! Too bad your pizza was not cooked long enough! Next time do not hesitate to grab a server or manager and get us to put it back in the oven! There is a small window of opportunity between perfect crispy/char and burnt, so a lot of times our cooks will err on the side of caution. I hope you try us again and you get your pizza perfectly char/crispy/delicious! Thanks again!

Thanks for reading and leaving a comment.

As I said in the review, I love what you have done with that space. I hope Ted's Most Best becomes a fixture in Downtown Athens for a long time. Best of luck in the future!
